The upgrade item is a unique item that helps trainers develop certain Pokemon into stronger forms. Silph Co. produces it.
This special item is extremely rare, but players can obtain it by spinning Photo Discs at PokeStops and Gyms.
It comes with a variety of additional bonuses It also comes with an upgrade track that restricts how high the item can be upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components can be slotted into armor, weapons trinkets, tools for gathering and weapons to give you an attribute benefit or additional effect while the equipment is in use. They can be acquired through crafting, purchased from vendors or the trading post or looted as a reward. Some upgrades can have additional cosmetic effects. Upgrade components can be classified into two categories: universal and type-restricted. Universal upgrades, including gemstones, can be put in any type of equipment, whereas types-restricted upgrades, like inscribed items, need to be placed in specific kinds of items to unlock their benefits.
Certain upgrade components are only recoverable through a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or Ascended Salvage Tool. Ascended armor or legendary gear could contain upgrade components which can only be retrieved with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Tool. Upgrades that have already been included in an item aren't able to be swapped out for an upgrade of the same type. Glyphs, however, are able to be swapped into and out of collecting tools.
Glyphs are able to be replaced with glyphs that are of the same type, and any upgraded item will display the name of its original upgrade and the new one in the hover text. Inscriptions may add their own names to the item they modify. This is evident when you right-click on the upgraded weapon.

The glyph metrics of fonts can affect the layout of text. For instance the glyph could have an advance width which is the amount of space it takes from its point of origin to the end of the font. The glyph might also have side bearings which are white spaces between the left and right sides of a font. These side bearings can be called kerning. They affect how the glyph will be displayed in the document.
Glyphs can be upgraded within the Nightmare Dungeons by visiting an Upgrade Altar. Each Nightmare Dungeon has a specific amount of time to be completed, and after that the Glyph Upgrade altar will be revealed. The altar allows players to spend the Glyph XP they've earned by playing the dungeon and it will also boost all of the nearby Paragon Board nodes in its radius.
The hero can add stat bonuses from each glyph to his total. These bonuses can help you decide which glyphs you should upgrade, and where to place them in the Paragon Board.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens allow players to reroll any item's stats. They can be used to upgrade existing items, or reroll into brand new ones. Reroll tokens are available through event tickets or in-game shops. To use a reroll, players must select an item from their inventory and click on the button to reroll. The number of rerolls that an item can be granted depends on its rarity and the level at which it is.
The game gives players additional ways to change the stats of their characters, besides the possibility of rerolling tokens. For instance, players can get additional XP through special events and dungeons. This XP can then be used to unlock additional Reroll tokens, and thus increasing their chance at rerolling an item.
